Welcome!

Hi, this blog is an online record of some of the works I have written. I've started off by sharing some of my poetry and I will also be adding short stories, children books and chapters of novels as I complete them. I have a diverse and general interest in all types of writing and hope to one day see one of my works published.
Please feel free to comment on any of the posts as I am eager for feedback. This is the first time I've ever publicly shared anything I've written and so haven't yet heard any oppinions from others- good or bad. I'd love to hear whether you liked or even hated what you read and what you think are the strengths/weaknesses of any of the pieces. Please do not hold back (although please try not to be needlessly hurtfull! Like I say I'm new to this!)
Above anything else I hope to achieve with this blog, I hope that whoever stumbles across it will enjoy reading one if not all of my works.
Thanks,
Jessica Paul.

The Mother's Love

From the first I loved you more than any before.
I could not hope to love you any the more.
The first time I saw you my heart was broken;
Overwhelmed with a feeling I’d only known spoken.
I’d heard of this love but never known it.
Then, in that room the revealing light was lit.
As you were passed into my arms
my cheeks rushed with the warmth of your charms.
The eyes of your father looking back at me,
But still a lot of me in you, I could see.
I knew in that moment when holding you tight,
I’d protect you in any threatening fight.
I’d go to any lengths to see you right
and build you a future so brilliant and bright.
Now you’re grown and have a brother
You share my heart with that of another.
But I do not love you any the less
I was scared I would, I must confess.
Somehow my heart grew even the more
When your sibling, I then bore.
It opened up a space to love him too
And love him just as much as I love you.
If you both ever should learn,
That another baby is to come in turn
Never worry and have no fear,
My love for you, I hold eternally dear.
